New in 2017 was the Bernat Blanket Stripes Yarn. An exciting play on long variegated yarn, a similar concept to Caron Cakes. Flip up the ball and you suddenly can see the colours that exist inside. The colour stays the same for a long time before switching to the next.
With modern shades and playful colours, this yarn is really fun to crochet. If you are like me and unsure of what colours belong together, the designers have used their skills to put together colours you may not have anticipated work together. As always, there are great choices. What works for me, may not be for you. I'm just glad to have the opportunity to decide.
The Biggest Tip
Bernat has put the same amount of yardage on these balls as the standard Bernat Blanket Yarn. The advantage is that you can mix the Bernat Blanket Yarn Brands together as the yarn is the same. So you can have a playful mix of solids and this Bernat Blanket Stripes in your projects.
The colour transitions are instant. The yarn strands are twined together. Due to the dying nature of this type of yarn, you won't end up with clean lines with today's technology if it's dyed with one strand. Down
the road as we get smarter, there may be a way. The twinning is strong and secure to trust in it. I've seen other yarn done this way and it's reliable.
Below is a Star Baby Blanket using Bernat Blanket Stripes. The colours are changing in the star as you crochet. I have provided a tutorial below to do this star. Just substitute the hook to 8 mm or size L and use Bernat Blanket Stripes. You can stop where you want to. I've done baby blanket stars using Bernat Baby Blanket. You will need between 2 - 3 balls. The one in the picture is about 2 balls only based on experience.

How do we figure out how to get the lines to be even, without starting a new color halfway into a row?

YOu need to have an extra ball of yarn and when the colour changes, just to the extra ball to finish off a colour. Or don't use this yarn and just use solids to avoid the issue.
